The 2001 R6 received a mild update with lighter internals, forged pistons, revised carburetor and ignition settings, a new tail section with LED rear light and wider mirrors. The chassis was largely carried over. It stayed a sharp, high-revving 600 supersport with a comfortable seat for its class.
